About Io Moths:
This Moth is a Female. Adult Io's do not eat. They live for 1-2 weeks. Females are brown & males are yellow. Females lay 50-250 eggs in clusters. Successfully fertilized eggs will have black spots, unfertilized eggs will have a greenish gray spot. Eggs hatch in 2-3 weeks after being laid. The Caterpillars are a green-yellow color with venomous spikes. They form their cocoons between leaves or on the forest floor. They eat various plants like cherry, Blackberry, willow, hibiscus, elm, Maple, sweet gum & so much more. These Moths are beautiful creatures that remind us of the Earth's natural cycles.
